Description
I've been meaning to do a new Evil Dead pic for a while and I finally got around to it. I'm in the process of coloring it right now, but since I'm messing around with that I figured I'd post the line art. I got my biggest inspiration from Frazetta's Death Dealer II picture. I wanted to go with that hunky, muscle bound Ash you always see in the Army of Darkness posters but was never really in the movie.
Even though I say this is an Army of Darkness pic, I think it has more to do with Evil Dead II, which is my favorite in the franchise. Army was so tame by comparison and I wanted to pit Ash against real weird monsters like in II instead of a bunch of angry looking skeletons. I mean, they're not super weird. I wanted to still make it so they could be man-in-suit creatures... mostly.
My favorite part is the giant deadite in the background. I actually did that as a separate piece and composited it in before I inked it.
Coloring it is a nightmare, especially since color still hates me and I'm not altogether sure I don't still hate color back.
