I've been doodling at this all week long. Mostly during class. I drew the chick by accident, really liked what I had, then drew the eel. I had originally thought of having her in the sky, falling almost as a dragon pulled its way through the clouds toward her, but that was just too fluffy. I can sooner imagine her having been dragged down with a ship wreck only to free herself and get trapped by a giant freaking moray eel! Anyone here ever read the book or seen the movie "The Deep?" It's a Peter Benchley novel (yeah, the jaws guy) that, like much of his work, is pure fluff but it has a cool giant moray in it. Probably the inspiration here. You don't see too many giant morays. I thought it would be appropriate in a psuedo fantasy setting, more of that Howard sword and sorcery, historical fantasy. Here the moray at larger size becomes a dragon of the sea, a haunter of the deep.
Also, in line with my sea creatures that don't get enough attention (like the scary-as-all-get-out morays) I put in that pack of hammerheads and jelly fish. Jellyfish are just... bizzare. And as Verwildert and I discussed there's something almost revolting about how innocent they are, yet how much pain and even death they can cause by just floating there. Then there's the hammerheads. I'm sorry, but hammerheads are the scaries damn sharks in the ocean. Great Hammerheads are freaking huge, those heads are just so alien, and their teeth.... Most sharks have arrow head shaped teeth, but hammers... they've got needle teeth, like a mouth full of medical syringes. They also like to lurk around shipwrecks...
As usual, anything in my gallery is up for coloring. Just note me and I can get you a 200 to 300 res version. I think this pic would look shmexy with some colors, personally. I'm also really flexible about coloring, I don't really care what you do, you can add whole pieces, take away things, whatever. Just note me, link me, and credit me.
Yes it has! I've been very busy with things. It was getting hard to balance two
lives; here at DA, and my Real one. Leaving was a decision I didn't take lightly.
It realy tore me up. But I'm here again, and it's definitly a good feeling. Thanks
4 the welcome.
It's a favorite of mine, but I think the almost naked background keeps it from impressing people. But seriously, how to create the effect of a vast expansive void in black and white without it looking like their in space?
I'm bored and I want to color things. Send me a high-res version?
