This is the second of my two recent endeavors. The first being my slightly revisionist vampire piece "1897." Here I drew on a concept I have long wanted to do: Frankenstein vs. the Werewolf. That classic b-movie monster throwdown given my own grim, hyper-masculine approach. My ideal is to create an image that would be the reason you'd pay ten bucks for a theater ticket to see. Personally, while most complain movies are too flash and dash (and I'll agree), I love spectacle and I expect to see amazing stuff when I sit down in the theater. I just don't think film makers know what amazing stuff is anymore. But that's another argument.

For this I had a full design for Frankenstein's creature to draw on from years ago. I ditched a lot of the external apparatus that originally encased parts of him, like a full arm brace, some shoulder gear, wires and tubes staples and threaded into his skin. All you get here is a straight patchwork man, a finger painting of one man's view of the idealized man.

The idea of Hulk sized werewolves is nothing new. But I did spend a lot of time desiging it's facial features, drawing on, most noticeably Giger's alien design and The Howling. I also drew on wild boars with an interest in emphasizing the lower fangs. If it were to shut it's jaws it would be clearer that they would hook out and around the snout, rather than fit into the mouth.

In the end my aim was to create very classical, yet very "me" works involving these classic genre characters.

I flirt with fine art. She tells me that she's not that kind of girl, and I tell her that's because she needs one more drink.

5 films. Christopher Lee and Lon Chaney are also on headstones. I plan on adding dates later. If you have to ask the question, apparently you didn't read my description.

Heh, thanks. I love Peter Cushing. Keneth Branagh brought a lot of human charisma to the role and portrayed as a more accurate starry eyed idealist, Cushing is just hypnotic with his twisted ideoligies and soulless determination. I also loved how in Revenge of Frankenstein he continues to revitalize himself by transplanting his own brain into a new body. Such a great idea.
